“Home Cooked Food At It’s Best”

I found myself at the Pittsfield Café for a work outing this past week and I’m glad I didn’t have to pick where we were going because we probably would have ended up somewhere that I’ve already been. I know what you’re thinking but sometimes I’m a creature of habit. Located in the heart of the Loop, the Pittsfield Café serves up familiar breakfast dishes and lunchtime sandwiches for a fraction of the price. There was plenty of seating both inside and outside, and when we arrived around 3:00 PM we had no issues finding a table. With the look and feel of an old time diner, I immediately felt at home. Our waitress was extremely personable and for how many people we had in our party the food came out rather quickly. I will admit if you don’t know what you are looking for it is pretty hard to find. I ordered a slice of Triple Chocolate Layer Cake and the South of the Boarder Scrambler and the total came out to around $15.

The Triple Chocolate Layer Cake consisted of rich, moist chocolate cake covered in chocolate frosting and decorated with chocolate syrup and was just that, a triple threat to chocolate. My coworkers and I all enjoyed it polishing it off rather quickly. The South of the Boarder Scrambler consisted of three eggs topped with chorizo, onions, tomatoes, sliced avocado, pepper jack cheese and jalapenos, topped with pico de gallo served with fresh-cut hash browns and rye toast. I might have shared the cake but I devoured the scrambler. I think that might have been the case for just about anything else that I could have ordered.

Whenever I find myself in the area again I would love to try the Santa Fe Breakfast Burrito or the California Dreams Sandwich which just so happen to be two of their most ordered items. I also wouldn’t mind indulging in a slice of their Turtle Cheesecake or Apple Pie.

When it comes to the Pittsfield Café, I give it a 4 out of 5 sporks. It has something for just about everyone and the taste to match all under one roof. It is one of those restaurants you could go to for breakfast, lunch or dinner and get exactly what you are looking for. Don’t just take my word for it, check it out yourself!
